Stinson Claims 1st Leg of OVSCA Sprint Speed weekend
Tyler Carpenter Captures AMRA Late Models
Bond Blasts AMRA Mods/Adkins Aces 4 Cylinders

STEWART, OHIO-Vandalia, Ohio’s Jimmy Stinson aboard the B&J Welding/Contracting #22 led from green-to-checkered to kick off the first leg of the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) Super Sprint Weekend Friday night at Billy Jarrell’s Skyline Speedway. The tour continues Saturday night at the Ohio Valley Speedway and concludes Sunday, July 3 at I-77 Raceway in Fairplain, WV. Another good crowd greeted the 113 cars that filled the pits.
Tyler Carpenter also posted a flag-to-flag win in the AMRA Late Models, Andy Bond grabbed the AMRA modified main, Tommy Adkins took the Four Cylinders, and Coyle Mayle again claimed the Mike’s Auto Body Mini-Wedges.
As a result of picking up the first heat win with a late pass over Aaron Higgins, Stinson started on the pole and never looked back in the 25-lap campaign. “Fine Wine” Dave Dickson aboard the Doug Abbott mount came on strong at the finish to taunt Stinson, while youngster Kory Crabtree anchored down third place.
Last week’s winner Josh Davis brought home fourth ahead of Mitchel Harble, Aaron Higgins, Brian Benson, Mark Imler, Chris Myers, and Wes McGlumphy. Heat wins went to Stinson and Crabtree while Higgins set fast time.
In the late model main a new face hit victory lane for his first Skyline feature win. Young Tyler Carpenter became the third member of the racing Carpenter’s to claim a super Late Model win in holding off Beckley, WV challenger Rick Williams.    The win broke Chris Garnes’ win streak at three.
Garnes brought home third ahead of Freddie Carpenter, Ralph Withem, Larry Bond, Colten Burdette, Dan Morrison, Travis Brookover, and Jeff Burdette who rounded out the top ten.
One of the most competitive races of the night was the AMRA modified main. Andy Bond took the lead from Kenny Johnson on lap nine, then held off late race charges from the rampaging J.P. Roberts. Roberts stormed from 10th to second, but ran out of time, fending off defending champion Kenny Johnson.
Posting another great run was Derrick Smith and Rick Venham, who burst into the top five. Sixth through tenth were Vince Conrad, Roy Roush, Jason Brooks, Robert Garnes, and B-main winner Jeremy Jarvis up from 17th.
Same result/different night. In the Four Cylinder main, Tommy Adkins burst into the early lead and never looked back. The invading Strickland boys were not enough for the flying Portland, OH ace. Finishing in second was Mike Strickland, followed by Chris Strickland, George Klintworth, Jeff Rankin, Barry Kitts, John Rankin, Brad Stone, Cody Heiss, and Steve Brown.
Young Cole Mayle grabbed the mini-wedge main for the fifth time this season . Behind Mayle were Jason Gillian, Colten Perine, Corey Delancey, Tyler Evans, Skylar Zimmerman, Corey Miller, Samantha Roush, Cale Stinson, and Kasey Rankin.
Skyline continues action next Friday, July 8 with a full racing program.
